Welcome to La Isla Bonita Elementary School in Belize, Central America. This day school was started by Addy and Hector Trejos
and serves children in grades K-6. Students from San Pedro Town, on the island of Ambergris Caye attend this school There are 40 students and 5 staff members. Layla, Hector, Cheryl Fox,
Neima Leslie and Marjeli Castellanos.
About the School
La Isla Bonita Elementary School taught the children Math, English, Reading, Science, Phonics, Geography, Visual Art, and the History of Belize. Students of all religious backgrounds attended but most of the Island children come from Catholic religion. Values, appreciation of others , the environment, and self esteem are integrated into every days learning. La Bonita Elementary School also offers a unique Guest
Artist Program so that the children can explore a variety of art making
techniques and processes.

Location of School
La Isla Bonita Elementary School is located on Ambergris Caye, Belize in San Pedro Town. Ambergris Caye is the largest of the 200 islands of Belize. The island is twenty-five miles long made up of three main areas. Mangrove Swamps, lagoons, and sand. The Barrier Reef lies about a half a mile to the east of the island, running the entire length.
The school was not destroyed in the hurricane, but much of their
equipment, computers, etc. were destroyed in the office.
