The San Pedro Town Board is in the process of getting a definite solution for the "muddy" problem that occurs every time it rains. In San Pedro the most affected area is from Tropic Air to San Pedro Distributors. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor told the San Pedro Sun that they are working closely with the Ministry of Works to remedy the situation. Already surveyors were in San Pedro to look into the matter. They are doing an estimate for the stabilizing of this area. Two of the options are using gravel or using cobblestones (adocretos). The results and estimates of the studies that would include a drainage system should be ready in a couple of weeks. The Government of Belize has allocated $100,000 for a small project in San Pedro. The members of the San Pedro Town Board held a meeting and unanimously voted for the money to go towards the repairing of the streets. If the final studies and estimates are realistic, the San Pedro Town Board will also cover some of the expenses. Businesses located in that area have verbally agreed to pitch in for this project. The San Pedro Town Board welcomes suggestions pertaining to this matter. The results of the studies will be announced in upcoming editions of the San Pedro Sun.
