San Pedro Lions Clinic
The San Pedro Lions Club founded the clinic approximately 23 years ago. At the time the clinic was founded there was no organized health care available to the people of San Pedro. Through an extensive fund raising drive, needed materials and monies were obtained to construct the clinic.
The Lions members cleared and leveled the ground and built the clinic without outside assistance. Since that time the clinic has provided care to all people regardless of their financial status. The clinic currently serves about 70% of the people of San Pedro on a pay if you can basis.
In March of 2005 a long term dream was fulfilled with the opening of the new San Pedro Lions Polyclinic II. With the assistance of private donation, the Government of Belize and extensive fund raising by the San Pedro Lions a new hospital/clinic was opened to help serve the needs of the people of San Pedro.
The major task that now faces the Polyclinic and The Lions Club is to obtain the necessary equipment to furnish the new clinic to allow the physicians and nurses to provide essential care to the people of the community.
