Ballerina's perform during the
Nutcracker
|
The world renown Christmas ballet,
The Nutcracker, made its debut in San Pedro last weekend. The show, part
of the Millennium celebrations spearheaded by San Pedro Town Board and
the Y2KCC, was presented by the talented dancers and friends of Barbara's
Dance Group last Sunday evening.
As the curtains opened revealing an elegantly
decorated stage, the public knew they would be witness to a spectacular
show and spectacular it was. As the narration of the classical Nutcracker
commenced, the scenery intensified as the characters played their parts
and displayed their intricately detailed costumes. It was very refreshing
to see some parents of the dancers also join in the play. At the end of
the first act, everyone expressed their admiration for the performance
and anxiously awaited the second act. As the play continued it revealed
much humor, many surprises and the finest performances by the dancers of
Barbara's Dance Group.
At the end, the crowd showed their appreciation with
thunderous applause. For many this was their first time seeing The
Nutcracker; for others who were familiar with the show, it was agreed
that The Nutcracker in San Pedro was wonderfully portrayed.
The remainder of the night's presentation
continued with entertaining dances by members of Barbara's Dance Group
who once again left the audience in awe.
